Write that becomes quoted.

The good news: what AI systems quote also reads more comfortably for humans.

You write for AI answer machines by opening each page with an independent answer of forty to sixty words, answering each sub-question completely under its own heading, making facts verifiable with date and source, and also identifying disadvantages. Models cite sources that weigh up.

STEP BY STEP

This is how you approach it

  1. Open with an independent answerForty to sixty words that make sense without the rest of the page. No “as we explain below”: that makes it unquotable.
  2. Give each sub-question its own headingA model picks up the passage under the heading that matches the question. One long piece of text without structure is more difficult to quote.
  3. Make facts verifiableNumbers with date and origin. A statement without a source is more likely to be skipped than a figure with something behind it.
  4. Keep your facts identical everywhereThree prices on three pages make you unreliable. We keep prices central and allow the build to fail in case of deviations: that is not a luxury but a condition.
  5. Also mention disadvantages and exceptionsA page that only mentions benefits reads like advertising. Sources that weigh up are cited more often, and they also convince people more.
  6. Write in plain languageModels and people stumble over the same complicated sentences. Short sentences, active voice, no jargon without explanation.

PITFALLS

What doesn't work

Repeating keywords does not work with AI systems any more than it does with search engines. It makes the text worse without delivering anything.

And putting hidden instructions for models in your HTML is a bad idea: it's recognized as manipulation and can lock you out.

  • No keyword repetition — doesn't work anywhere anymore.
  • No hidden instructions — is recognized as manipulation.
  • Answer at the top — independently readable.
  • Headings per sub-question — citable units.
  • Consistent facts — contradiction disqualifies.
  • Please mention disadvantages — winning balanced sources.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

More about AI discoverability

Should I write other than for people?

Hardly. The format that models quote: instant answers, clear headlines, verifiable facts: is exactly what a harried reader wants. That is the pleasant outcome of this.

Does this really work?

It is plausible and cannot be measured hard, and we would rather say that than present it as proven. There is no citation report. What is certain: unclear and contradictory pages will certainly not be cited.

Should I rewrite my old pages?

Start with the pages that matter commercially. Adding an answer-first paragraph to an existing page takes a matter of minutes and costs you nothing in structure.
